  • SHAPE STUNS BFA, 1-0, IN DOUBLE-OVERTIME CHAMPIONSHIP

RAMSTEIN - It wasn't supposed to end like this. The SHAPE Spartans rewrote the storybook ending to the Falcon's amazing tournament run by scoring on a breakaway goal in the second overtime. A stunned crowd watched BFA surrender its one and only goal of the tournament as dusk settled on the storm-delayed match. Too many times the ball clanked off the SHAPE crossbar, or sailed wide right, or wide left, or dribbled across the mouth of the goal without finding the net. As the Falcons (11-1-1) pressed the Spartan defense midway thru the second overtime, the ball popped free allowing their tournament MVP to go one-on-one with all-tournament goalie NathanK. No doubt, it'll be a goal that he'll tell his children's children.

To SHAPE's credit, they didn't back into the title but earned it by knocking off the two undefeated powerhouses and tournament favorites. The dark horse team from Belgium upset the Lions of AFNorth, 2-0, last night, then stunned the very team that had just beaten them, 2-0, in pool play:  two-time defending champ, BFA. Our guys should hold their heads high after giving it their all on a rain-soaked muddy field that was so exciting, most of the fans rarely sat down. They showed much class by acknowledging the new champions after the match despite the heartache of their only loss of 2006. It's that attitude, in victory or defeat, that separates BFA from the other teams. Their picture is a bigger picture; it looks at life and that beyond. Don't worry guys, the pain will eventually subside and soon it'll be time to craft a new story. We're all very proud of you and the effort you gave for all of us.

  • Last night Gail had the senior home student girls over and I have to say it was quite fun.:) I went right after soccer practice and Gail and I bought a frozen pizza to eat for dinner. Then I sat on her couch writing recipes down from one of her magazines... Of course it was the Chocolate Lovers Magazine.:)

Today I have a killer Bible test. I really need to study for it now. Tomorrow I am going to my small group leaders house for dinner with Fiona, Amber, and Megz.:) It's going to be loads of fun.... Then Thurs or Fri I have a Math and English test... So pretty much pray for me because I am getting really worn out and overwhelmed.

I hope y'all have a good one. Remember JSB is Friday night!!! :) Yeah!!!!

This is so my sister and grandma can see what my hair looked like....

    Love y'all!

  • The day is almost over and it has been quite enjoyable. I went to bed last night at 10pm and got up at 8. I studied for math and worked on debates for a long time. Then I took the afternoon off and chilled. It's so nice just sitting down and doing nothing.

Soccer in Saturday went alright. We put up a good fight but lost in the end by a point in the last few minutes. The end score was 2-3. I'm pretty sure that guys and jv girls won, but don't quote me.

Saturday night was Talent Show and I have to say that the "Thriller Oldies" were the best! It was a lot of fun, but I was still nervous in the beginning.

Well, I'm in need of cup of coffee and a comfy couch so have a good day everyone and keep smiling!

  • A lot has been going on in this past week since I last wrote. Soccer this past weekend was great. BFA finally won all the games and came back victorious. Varsity girls played extremely well. Good job ladies! This week we are working on endurance so we have been running and sprinting everyday so far...... Yeah, I guess that's all two days of this week.:) Well, that's what we will be doing. We didn't even touch a soccer ball today.

Monday was field trip day and senior met at Palmgarten for a transitional seminar(s). It was a good day and very helpful... Well, I guess I'll really see if it's helpful next year...

This weekend is BFA's 50th Ann. so we are all involved with that here. I am in the Talent Show with some other girls in my class... Then on Saturday we have our first home soccer game. So EVERYONE who is here come support your team at 12:00.

    Alright time to study...

    later y'all!
